It made me laugh so it's not completely useless.

No-one believes this comment.

I've seen software code that does the same thing...OK...hell, I've written code that's done the same thing.

Looks like a left-wing job creations program.

The perfect present for a Skinners rat......

This is not nearly as silly as it looks. Think about the circularity of self-examination. Who, whom?

There's a lot of cognitive recursion going on here. We are the only organism on the planet that might be capable of creating an entity more cognitively capable than we. We are the only organism on the planet that might be capable of conceiving that we might be capable of creating an entity more cognitively capable than we. We are the only organism on the planet that might be capable of conceiving that we might be capable of conceiving that we might be capable of creating an entity more cognitively capable than we. Et cetera. It's all turtles.

I remember Jonathan Miller giving a capsule definition of consciousness thus: "that which it is like to be." I think this is true. Genuine cognition, rather than mere analysis, relies on introspection, if only to cast ourself in the mind of another.

Yeah, reading too much into a silly toy. But it's fun.

Perhaps, but just imagine the level of reward system activation if you got a tasty food pellet every time you switched it on?...

Eh?...Eh?...

I'd rather the brain electrodes personally...

I think the box should be labelled Political Correctness. It will keep on correcting you until you either starve it of fuel or smash it with a hammer; if you do neither it will wear you down and you will give up.

Is there any room in that box for Schrödinger's cat?

I think this joke is funnier when the machine takes a longer than this to shut itself again.

Sorry, please lose the "a" there.
