Yeah I saw that. As a father of 2 boys I'm just thrilled to hear these attitudes. Really hopeful for the future

Also, lately, we've had Milo Y battling with infamous fabricator Connie ST Louis and Kate Smurthwaite on daytime telly.

I'm sure it must dawn on even the slowest minds that Milo is shooting out verifiable evidence*, whereas the censoring feminist section are simply trying to shout him down. Smurthwaite mysteriously called for him to be "locked up".

Connie St Louis gives us a generous helping of her imaginary world. I look forward to a day when even BBC audiences don't clap when she repeats this completely fictional account of the world. It prompted an indignant piece from Milo on Breitbart & everyone was reminded of her behaviour wrt Tim Hunt, so that was something...

* I don't mean it's necessarily all correct, but at least he's saying things that can be checked - not vague political theory built on laughably flimsy foundations

Anna

Of course a curfew will make dating rather difficult if you’re not a lesbian, and overnight motorway maintenance will have to be done exclusively by ladies.

I don't think she's thought it through. Thank God she's got a masters in Women's Studies to fall back on.

Joan

That was quick. :-)

It pretty much wrote itself.

It does make me wonder what experience Ms Murphy and her readers have of men in general and family life in particular. When she thinks of “men” as a thing to punish - “a male with a penis” - does that group include her father, her uncles, nephews and any brothers, and any male friends? Are they also to be subject to this amusing humiliation?

Jeff Guinn

I just read a goodly part of the comment thread. Megan Murphy and her radfem friends have spewed up the most irrational, hysterical, and toxic abuse of pixels I have ever seen on the webz.

And that's saying something.

I couldn't help but notice that she took the gang attacks in Cologne as her starting point, yet resolutely refused to mention anything about the attackers other than that they were male, and abused anyone sentient enough to bring it up.

rjmadden

Meghan is also available to teach workshops on advocacy journalism.

Based on this, who could say no?

David

she took the gang attacks in Cologne as her starting point, yet resolutely refused to mention anything about the attackers other than that they were male, and abused anyone sentient enough to bring it up.

Yes, despite her agitation and urge to correct the world, the words “migrant,” “refugee” and “Muslim” appear nowhere in the article. It’s the Laurie Penny school of critical analysis. Or an example of displacement. But then, this is a woman of such mental heft she took on crippling debt and wasted years of her life to get a degree that’s intellectually worthless and will actively repel any sane employer.

As life choices go, perhaps not the smartest.

Jimmy

I'm sure she and her friends had a good laugh about this article after it was published. There's no attempt at being taken seriously - it's all status signalling set to overdrive. This woman is either a sociopath or deeply unhappy with her life.

I see a huge opportunity for mail order brides from Asian and Russia. Those who open such services will make many Canadian men happy and earn a good living for themselves. Make sure you use a service run by and for men. Then you can spend your curfew without all the "drama" of the Canadian female.

David

The spam filter is having one of its periodic fits. If anyone has trouble with comments not appearing, email me and I’ll set them free.

Rob

Presumably only white men? Has she horribly blundered here and revealed herself as a racist imperialist?

Anyway, who are they going to get to impose this 'curfew'? Ten foot tall neuter genetic creations currently growing in a VAT? Because women won't be very good at it. Feminists don't seem to understand that if you pick a fight with people bigger, stronger and nastier you will lose.

Jimmy

Her place in the world is to tend to her pretty blog, write feminist boilerplate, and troll men with snark and condescension. I think she and I would actually agree on many issues but probably for different reasons, though I will never really find out because (if the comments are anything to go by) she is an insufferable bitch.

R. Sherman

Ms. Murphy is quite perplexed at commenters who note the common denominator in the Cologne attacks is something more than just "maleness." Says she, " It's almost as though the angry male internet WANTS something to scream about..."

Unlike the angry "female internet," of course.

Meanwhile, old Will Shakespeare is under attack by the Globe's artistic director for lack of woman-centric casting:

"For example, “[t]here is no reason why [the Earl of] Gloucester can’t be a woman,” said Rice, who admits to being no Shakespeare expert, having directed only one of his plays and having read only a few others."

We provide a unique perspective on pop culture, politics, current events, sexuality, gender, and many other issues that are often underrepresented or misrepresented by most media sources.

Indeed, a "unique perspective" so unique it is exactly like every other leftist site and most of the MSM.

Meanwhile, one of her comrades offers this unique perspective on Fifteen way the world revolves around men's penises.

Nothing is said about women's penises, or those of true hermaphrodites, but I was shocked to learn that the world has been oppressed because Rowan Atkinsons's Blackadder codpiece sold at auction for £850.

Is a curfew as a good as a cor, phew!

I as yoof I had experienced the latter while looking at pictures of ladies, so perhaps the curfew isn't too bad at all even for a man of my age.

Ah, Canada. The true north weak and sniveling.

It's tough really. This haversack of white male privilege that I have to carry in and out of my white(gasp!) pickup truck(*fainting*) everyday in the winter so it doesn't freeze is an annoyance. Makes me late for work.

brinster

Assuming the curfew is put into practice, what will happen when the power goes out, or a waterline breaks, or the phone service goes dead or the cable tv drops out after dark? Will the feminist sisters be there to make repairs? You betcha!
Along those lines, I'd like to see a national white guys strike. For a week. Let's see who squeals the loudest.

I see a huge opportunity for mail order brides from Asian and Russia.

The Yanks actually brought in a law making it harder for their menfolk to bring in overseas brides. I don't recall the details, but it appeared to be in part championed by feminists who didn't want their blokes having the option of avoiding their fishwifery.

I made a similar comment on the Brietbart site in discussion with one of these deluded feminists. My comment got moderated out, however her calling me a Neanderthal still stood. On Breitbart no less. Though I suspect Disqus may have had a hand in it. Do not underestimate the power of these beasts.

This is what comes of letting women vote. Never thought the day would come when I would agree with such, but that day passed a couple decades ago. I find it increasingly difficult to take women seriously unless I've gotten to know them a few months. I see it making work more difficult, eventually. Certainly had some reservations about one women when I went on a job interview recently. Not necessarily the reason I didn't take the job but it factored in to my doubts about what she said vs. what she may have really meant in the context of what I was looking for. Which is sad because I did kind of like her, but you have to play the percentages. Given the risks involved in changing employers combined with the likely hood of my doubts, it could have made the difference.

David

“Please do not rape us. Please do not piss in our gardens.”

It’s almost funny, in a grim kind of way. And I can’t help thinking that if you’re having to mass produce leaflets instructing your exotic newcomers not to destroy shopkeepers’ stock, not to rape or molest random women, not to throw rocks at gay people, and not to shit on someone’s lawn, then a quite serious failure of judgement has already occurred.

pst314

"My penis doubles as a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range."

I sexually identify as an A-10 Thunderbolt. You must demonstrate your tolerance by publicly affirming this.

pst314

I would argue that this is what comes of allowing leftists to speak.

pst314

"Of course a curfew will make dating rather difficult if you’re not a lesbian..."

All to the good in her mind, I am sure.

...and overnight motorway maintenance will have to be done exclusively by ladies. And there’ll be no more working nights to support your family..."

I am sure that the lesbian feminist left is ready with a solution modeled on the work release programs which allow prisoners to leave jail each day to go to work.

Tim Newman

Never thought the day would come when I would agree with such, but that day passed a couple decades ago.

As somebody wrote on another site, too many women see the government as the ultimate beta-male provider, and vote accordingly. The penny dropped for me when Obama's team wheeled out that 30 year old "student" who made the passionate plea for Obamacare to be passed in order that her birth control pills be paid for by somebody else - and she was *not* laughed into oblivion. In fact, it worked: Obama won.

Stan

What to do about lesbian rape?
Should lesbians be curfewed too then?

David

too many women see the government as the ultimate beta-male provider, and vote accordingly.

Reminded me of this by Mark Steyn on the decline of the family and what it costs:

The most reliable constituency for Big Government is single women, for whom the state is a girl’s best friend, the sugar daddy whose cheques never bounce. A society in which a majority of births are out of wedlock cannot be other than a Big Government welfare society. Ruining a nation’s finances is one thing; debauching its human capital is far harder to fix.

And choosing state dependency as part of a progressive lifestyle sounds pretty selfish to me.

pst314

"What to do about lesbian rape?"

There is no lesbian rape. Report immediately to Room 101 for reeducation.

Lisboeta

I became a sort-of feminist in the late 1960s. (Back then, life was not so easy for a woman in the workplace.) Now, things are so much better. And the last thing we need is half-wits proclaiming that men are beyond the pale! I, and most of my gender, actually like men. But that, apparently, is no longer PC?

“Indeed, a "unique perspective" so unique it is exactly like every other leftist site and most of the MSM.”

Galton and Simpson wrote an episode of Hancock's Half-Hour about this stuff back in 1959. I often think of it when reading David's posts. Tony joins the “East Cheam Cultural Progressive Society”:

Hancock: I can’t understand what all the fuss is about. Nothing out of the ordinary in this lot: blue and white striped stocking cap, home-woven vegetable-fibre shirt, canvas trousers and fisherman-rope sandals. Not exactly shipping-clerk gear, I admit, nevertheless indicative of my new state-of-mind. My friends and I are rebelling against conformity.

Sid: What do they wear?

Hancock: Well, the same as this, of course. We’re the ‘avant-guard’ of the New Culture. We’re dedicated to setting up a new order of things; determined to establish a new set of values; to break away from the bonds that threaten to stifle the cultural and creative activities of Man’s mind.

Sid: Blimey, another load of layabouts.

Hancock: We are not layabouts, we are artists, mush. Writers, poets, thinkers, all men who are seriously perturbed about the state of the world at the moment.

Sid: And what are you lot going to do about it?

Hancock: We are going to show the world the real truth, by setting them an example, developing our superior intellects. Culture, mate, that’s where the hope of the world lies. And a more cultural mob than us you wouldn’t find outside the Chelsea Embankment. Twenty-seven throbbing intellects, raring to go.

Nothing much changes. The only difference if it were re-made now is that the women would be in charge.

Chester Draws

Oh, I get punished because some other men are bad? This argument would be torn to shreds by a civics class of 16 year-olds. If a teacher lead a discussion with this argument, the class would laugh at him for something so weak.

Even as a Poe, which it surely is, it is pitiful.

And there are women trying to sort out actual issues who are face-palming as these people ruin their chances.

Such was how my elementary school was run. On several occasions the entire class was kept in from recess because of the misbehavior of a few. Of course the teachers were women. But then some would say it was good experience for how marine boot camps work. Not sure what that means.

R. Sherman

On several occasions the entire class was kept in from recess because of the misbehavior of a few.

Reminds me of an unfortunate incident in fifth grade when a few ne'er-do-wells opened several hundred milkweed pods into a trash can and then directed a fan into it to spread thousands fluffy seeds over the first floor of our elementary school. Nobody squealed inasmuch as the fifth grade version of Omertà is pretty strong incentive. I wonder if the statute of limitations is up on that incident.

Asking for a friend.

Hal

But then some would say it was good experience for how marine boot camps work. Not sure what that means.

When one recruit screws up, the other recruits can rather often get the flak along with that recruit.

In Marine boot camp, the drill instructors will make very clear that there is my Marine Corps, but the closest that a recruit gets to being an individual is only "This recruit", rather than I . . . a very definite emphasis is that there is no individual Marine, there is a general collection of Marines, with a general responsibility to make certain that individuals don't screw things up.

---Not my personal direct experience, but definitely reported in rather a bit of detail here and there . . . . Here's one collection . . .

If a foot locker was left unlocked, we all had to lock our locks together in several balls. . . .

If one recruit did not have his PT shoes, or boots in the correct place, or if they were not lined up straight, we would toss all foot gear into the center of the bay and we were given less than a minute to find our gear and to have them back in their proper place. . . . .

Out in the field we were told to set up our hootches (tents) and to properly secure them. So after we were done we went on some mission out in the field. Upon our return later on that evening, every single hootch was yanked from the ground and tossed aside. It looked like a hurricane had passed through our bivouac site. This game even got me wondering what we did wrong. We were hungry, tired, and filthy and now we had to deal with this cluster fuck. Our DI's explanation was that one single hootch was left partially open and the infamous "hootch monster" had gotten inside of it and destroyed our camp. . . . .

Etc.

A curfew for men.

Who are the feminists going to get to enforce it.

D

Oh, one of the dirty secrets of feminism is that as much as its advocates rail against patriarchy, they rely on men to enforce their orders. What this lot do is what Alison Tieman calls "damselling" - playing the poor little victim to get men to protect them against the big bad man.
If you can stomach it, check Milo vs the two feminists. Watch carefully. When the feminists are criticised on account of being liars, they play the hurt little girl.

Liz

But then, this is a woman of such mental heft she took on crippling debt and wasted years of her life to get a degree that’s intellectually worthless and will actively repel any sane employer.

Snork. That.

David

Snork. That.

And it’s not a trivial detail. If you want a life full of alienation, failure, resentment and habitual captiousness, then wasting years of your youth and tens of thousands of dollars on a degree in Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies is a good way to start. Apparently, it will also encourage a habit of dogmatism, censoriousness and mental agoraphobia, such that critical comments and corrections are either blocked and deleted or pre-emptively dismissed with chants of “Hey, hey, MRA.” And that degree in Women’s Studies is her badge of class status, of mental sophistication, of being an intellectual.

Henry

Who are the feminists going to get to enforce it

Guys like David Greenwald, apparently. Who was given this polite little checklist and, rather than reading it and responding, started hitting his block button, as Kate Smurthwaite has been busy doing lately...

Or maybe guys like Steve Shives, who likes to furiously berate all men via YouTube - whilst apparently not wearing the proverbial trousers in his relationship.

Please don't piss in our gardens.

When the feminists are criticised on account of being liars, they play the hurt little girl.

To her credit, the ginger girl with glasses - who I believe is one of the contributors at Spiked - said she found this act to be extremely condescending towards women. She gave a good account of herself throughout the whole exchange, I thought.

From the comments: "we are seeing rape gangs that are FUNDED by white supremacist right wingers sexually assaulting european [sic] women". So, essentially, in this woman's view, the German rape crisis is the fault of evil, heterosexual, racist white males, who are exhibiting their supremacist neo-colonial mindset of exploiting cheap immigrant labour to impose an oppressive, patriarchal system on women. Now, I'm no farmer, but I know bullshit when I see it. More seriously, how does anyone become so intellectually damaged that they actually believe this is a sane and rational view to hold?

Steve B

Apparently men belong in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant.

David

More seriously, how does anyone become so intellectually damaged that they actually believe this is a sane and rational view to hold?

Hard to say for sure. My impression is that Women’s Studies courses and third-wave feminism in general attract a high concentration of certain, rather obnoxious personality types, a certain disposition. And I suppose once you’ve wasted years of your life and a huge amount of money on this supposed credential, this regurgitation of bollocks, you’re kind of invested in it. It’s your badge of cleverness. It becomes the basis of your political persona and in-group status, and who you like to tell people you are.

It can’t be easy to have learned how to beg questions and how to cough up boilerplate - and then go, “Oh bugger, I’ve wasted my once-in-a-lifetime chance at university. I’m now horribly in debt with a worthless degree.”

See, for instance, this.

dicentra

You're making two erroneous assumptions: (a) that she wants to hold a sane and rational view; (b) that what she says correlates to what she believes.

Remember that we are dealing with seriously nasty pieces of work; their motives are alien to the rest of us, who cannot imagine anyone being so hell-bent on destroying things that don't need wrecking.

Their only true belief is that they ought to be in control of everything and that their enemies should be destroyed. They say whatever is necessary to achieve that goal.

And that, I'm afraid, is perfectly sane and rational given the desired end.

Flubber

dicentra beat me to it, and is more eloquent anyway

I think many feminists like her are easily understood when you take it as a given that they want to see more women like themselves in power. I suspect that to a great degree they project their 'will to power' onto men and treat politics as a zero sum game, with men as the monolithic force of patriarchy working in defense of their illegitimate rule.

Jib Halyard

Apparently Meghan Murphy is something of a moderate

Hal

You're making two erroneous assumptions: (a) that she wants to hold a sane and rational view; (b) that what she says correlates to what she believes.

At one job, I watched someone arrive and get utterly and absolutely incompetently trained because the title of "trainer" had been given to a narcissist whose primary interests involve hearing himself talk and in making narcissistic and incoherent videos that an entire department is required to watch.

The new arrival then demonstrated her lack of comprehension of her new job at just about any time she was working with customers. Because her arrival required justification by the current regime, she was handed a recurring project of announcing the new processes that the department would be carrying out. She soon was heard nearly cursing out a customer on the phone because the customer asked about one of the new programs that she had helped announce, where she kept insisting that the customer was totally wrong, there was no such program. This was while the rest of us were simply trying to get a source of documentation for that new program so that we could explain it in detail.

Next the lead sockpuppet allegedly in charge of the department then read off the latest script that his puppeteers had handed him. He announced that the new arrival was an astoundingly successful person, that she had been doing utterly and absolutely excellent work, and therefore she was being promoted to be in charge of all the new announcements.

Her first conference to announce the newest arrival was an unbroken series of statements of We'll get back to you on that. At one point she finally declared that the new arrival had particular features that are just like a certain other product. Almost to a one, the entire department then immediately corrected her in unison, pointing out that the already present product that she'd allegedly been trained in had different features.

About a day after that latest abject failure to declare Having A Title to be more important than actually doing the work, an email was sent out to the department telling of an additional different arriving product. The email was coherent and comprehensive---and sent out from a neighbouring department by someone who previously had been consistently and excellently making the announcements.

All in all, with the ongoing and insistent demand for proactive and celebrated incompetence there, my failure as a manager while I was there was in not getting out of there four to six years earlier than I did.

Well, I suspect you know better than I, but I suspect David also has a point when he points out how much of their lives they've invested in this ideological activism.

Even though some of it is based on whipped-up paranoia & resentment - it's become their identity, and the rationale for some seriously bossy, volatile behaviour. Rather embarrassing to have to turn round and say:

"Oh yeah. By the way, turns out you were right that patriarchy doesn't exist. Sorry about for the shouting,... and for that time I hit you in the whatsits, shame about that... and er sorry to call your friend a misogynist on facebook so noone would date him for a couple of years etctec"

And for their own sanity, oddly, they need to think they've been behind the right cause all along. Be a bit deflating for some folk, to not have a good cause.

But they want to be nice too. Many of them turn around occasionally and say, "hey I like men too - that's one of the myths about feminism". And they wear pink badges with the word "Feminist" surrounded by nice, nice flowers...

Henry

It certainly still being the case that one should not ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity, my corollary to Hanlon's Razor is that at some point stupidity becomes so wilful and so refractory to correction that it takes on the shape of malice. Or, to paraphrase another eponymous law: sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice.

Jim ("Herald at Arms of Eponymous Laws") Whyte

"...sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice."

I like that; and it sure makes sense in this context. So that's Gillies's Law, henceforth.
