Why is the little girl snorting lines of coke?

David

Why is the little girl snorting lines of coke?

I believe those are strips of mozzarella. Though your interpretation might explain the sweating. And the general exuberance.

Spiny Norman

Japan is a strange place. Even their earworms are weird.

Sam Duncan

In re this afternoon's Shoreditch video/lunch situation, all is forgiven.

Jen

Now I'm hungry.

Fred the Fourth

I watched the whole thing carefully, but the words "Not Mandatory" never appeared.
DISAPPOINTED!

Mags

There's a rat on the table. THERE'S A RAT ON THE TABLE.

jabrwok

And now for something...completely different.

Jonathan

I'm so glad that Japan still exists. No Shoreditching ( Shoreditch: Eng. verb. ' to s**t in the street') allowed there.

David

Shoreditching (Shoreditch: Eng. verb. ‘to s**t in the street’)

During car journeys, we have the verb Adeleing, as in to Adele, meaning “to skip ahead to the next track.”

Darleen

Heck, you can walk the streets of Tokyo and not see any trash in the gutter or even a trash can!

Ten

Two thoughts. This is, somehow, the pinnacle of human development.

As such, it is fortunate that yootoob isn't broadcast in RF. Let the aliens find Voyager before this. Or instead of.

Japan is rapidly becoming my favorite source for food-related entertainment.

See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIKqgE4BwAY .

Got hooked on reruns of the original Iron Chef years ago. It was a hoot.

If you like anime at all then you might enjoy Shokugeki no Souma. It's basically Iron Chef Anime.

Available through many fine streaming websites:-).

Darleen

jabrwok

I randomly picked this episode ....

that was great!

jabrwok

that was great!

:-D. Yeah, it's a fun series. Humor, food-porn, a bit of cheesecake, and more than a little melodrama.

Hal

And Now A Word From Our Sponsors

Hmmm. A dancing chorus that keeps jumping into the foreground.

I've seen this before.

Mike

My wife asked what I was listening to.

She's now played it three times.

David

She’s now played it three times.

Clearly, a woman of discernment. You chose well.

Jonathan

...to Adele, meaning “to skip ahead to the next track.”

Heh.

Heck, you can walk the streets of Tokyo and not see any trash in the gutter or even a trash can

It is remarkably free of 'enrichment'. They just need more Japanese babies.

David

Heh.

It was coined following overexposure to the Skyfall title music.

Jonathan

.....overexposure to the Skyfall title music.

I'm imagining all kinds of scenarios where this is possible. None of them have a happy ending.....

Pogonip

Did anybody else like the obstacle-course show that aired as "Ninja Warrior" in the U.S.?

Pogonip

Idea for Japanese game show: see who can get Siri to come up with the silliest response to a question. I play that game myself. "Siri," I say, " what is the meaning of life?" "Ask a spiritual leader." "I'm asking you. Do what you're programmed to do and answer the fregando question." "You sound very concerned. Perhaps you should talk to someone." And so on till it gets into an electronic snit and says it has no more information.

Tim Newman

Watch this:

https://youtu.be/Ct6BUPvE2sM

and then consider it’s had 117m views. This is all the guy has done, and he’s taken Japan by storm. He even performed for Trump during his recent visit. The mind boggles.

David

Time for wine, I think.

Tim Newman

Pffft. I’m drinking Fitzgeralds.

Pogonip

Hey! A dance even I, with a bad hip, can do! I'd really missed dancing! Thank you, Tim!

(Although I'm going to get some different music.)

Classy.

At first I wondered why I was watching a Japanese commercial for string cheese. Then I wondered why on Earth there would even be a Japanese commercial for string cheese.

Then I went to the store to buy some string cheese, 'cause I love the stuff.

Pogonip

What brand do you buy? Around here we have Frigo, Kraft, and Sargento, all of which are too salty.

dicentra

In other news the inimitable Deb Frisch has been released from jail and is mixing it up with @proteinwisdom on Twitter.

A psycho with an extremely dirty mind, she is. I pity anyone who has crossed paths with such a being.

In response to people saying japan needs to breed, in my experience, they are. I know the stats say they are below replacement, but I think it's a city thing, all my Japanese relatives have multiple kids. I dunno, I think they are going through a cultural adjustment to modernity, their population will even out. The great thing about their resistance to immigration is that Japan, even with a temporarily diminished population, will remain Japan. Europe is heading for ethnic warfare that will make the break up of Yugoslavia look like spending a pleasant day at the beach while getting a drunken blowjob from a local porn star

I'm partial to the Stater Bros. house brand, actually. It's a little salty, but not as much as Sargento or Kraft. I have only the vaguest recollection of Frigo from long ago, to the effect of don't buy this stuff ever again.

Governor Squid

Oh, Lord. Not Dr. Deb again. I have no Tweety thing, but if anyone would care to convey my condolences to Jeff, please do.

There's a padded cell with her name on it. I just hope she gets acquainted with it soon.

90% of the Japanese live in the cities.

their population will even out.

Not possible. They're at 1.51 now; the replacement rate is 2.54. Every fertile Japanese woman has to have at least one more child just to stabilize the population crash, and in the time that takes the elderly will still be dying off, meaning further shrinkage.

No society on Earth has ever pulled out of a demography collapse like Japan's, and the longer it goes on the more dire it will get.

Q30

I've been a Japan resident for 10+ years and I've never seen this Mozzarella song before. I must not watch enough videos.
