A temporary light installation / vertical garden by Luzinterruptus, Madrid. 110 plastic food containers house illuminated leaves.
Photographed by Gustavo Sanabria. Via Anna.
Botanist Patrick Blanc is a little more ambitious in his vertical gardening.
It's cute but why do artists always have to TELL YOU VERY LOUDLY it's about something important?

Yes, the urge to spell out explicitly why an artwork is “important” tends to make the thing in question less interesting rather than more so. You’d think artists would have figured that out by now. I suppose it’s because many artists believe making things that are attractive isn’t enough. There’s often an assumption that some kind of socio-political commentary is required for validation. (Though in fairness to Luzinterruptus, we’re spared the usual metabollocks and the end result is pretty, albeit temporarily. I wonder if these things are taken down once the lights fail and they start to look like litter?)
And though I quite like the effect above, it’s rather puny when compared with Patrick Blanc’s actual vertical gardens.
