But they'll claim it's because: "If we allow this everyone else will want and expect 'special treatment' also."

Taking your child home is special treatment? No further care or effort being requested is an imposition on the health care system?

No, I can't imagine that working as even the flimsiest of excuses. I really can't my see anything working, actually; their amorality is laid bare for the world to see.

Early modern college results . . .

Mark your calendars now!

It actually took me several seconds to fathom why it would be called a testicle festival. My eyes have been opened.

David

Right. Ephemera compiled. Glass of red in hand. All is good.

I think that's what bothers me the most. In a world where every "scarce" government resource is supposedly stretched to the breaking point, we have police called to a hospital to prevent a riot caused by people who think that a family should be able to remove their kid from a State medical facility. Scarce police resources are being used to assure that scarce medical resources can be expended in marking this kid's chart every couple of hours until he dies of neglect.

Even from an amoral bean-counter's perspective it makes no sense -- here's a perfect opportunity to discharge a living patient (making our stats look good and relieving both budgetary and PR pressure) and giving him to the Italians where he'll surely die anyway (making their stats look bad, which makes us look good by comparison). There's no practical reason for digging in their heels and keeping the child in captivity.

When every so-called practical justification falls flat, it's hard to draw any conclusion apart from the State insisting that it has authority over the time and manner of our children's deaths. And they wonder why decent people are appalled and infuriated...

Browse Zombie's website and you'll find another kind of testicle festival.

“It’s the norm for me, and presumably for countless others.”

Yep. But I disagree with Frank Fleming. The Left's reaction to Kanye West isn't “pretty hilarious”. It's absolutely bloody hilarious.

pst314,

More than a decade after beening exposed to it at zombietime, I still cannot understand the "inflated scrotum" fetish. Not even a little.

Whattheeverlovin...?

Spiny Norman

Pfttttt.

"been", "being", take your pick...

I still cannot understand the "inflated scrotum" fetish. Not even a little.

1. Some people are simply insane.
2. Put enough insane people in close proximity and you get a positive feedback loop.

I’ve long since become accustomed to celebrities whose work I appreciate... signalling politics that I find fatuous, hypocritical or obnoxious

Case in point - pathetic old luvvie Patrick Stewart channeling fictional characters he portrays on camera to support his autocratic opposition to British democracy.

[Is this thing on?]

David

[Is this thing on?]

It would appear so.

Karl

[oops - there's suddenly multiple pages of comments. Looks like your freestyle thread experiment is working dambusters!]

David

Patrick Stewart’s political inanities have been noted here before.

David

Vindicated at last.

Karl

OK pass over the stool of shame.
