My teeth… have written on my body and have been written on by my body. My canines speak volumes. My incisors have something to say. My bicuspids beg to be theorised. My molars desperately want to be understood. This story of my teeth is important because my straight teeth have not always been the way that they are… I realised the extent of the work that I have invested into straightening my teeth by reading Judith Butler.
In the nightmare, I’m held at gunpoint and for 24 hours am forced to read aloud works of “queer theory.” I begin with W. Benjamin Myers’ thoughts on “straight and white teeth as a metaphor for a straight and White identity” - and which allegedly reveal the “uninterrogated Whiteness” of routine dental hygiene and its role in maintaining “arrogant and ignorant straight and White identities.”
Via Amir Sariaslan, who has more. Previously in hell.
My bicuspids beg to be theorised.
Honk honk.

Honk honk.
Hence the term Clown Quarter.
You read these things and what’s striking is the shamelessness - there’s basically just a strained metaphor, some “autoethnography,” i.e., unsupported anecdotal rambling, and a predetermined conclusion – in this case, as so often, bad whitey. Those “arrogant and ignorant straight and White identities.” How the author gets there doesn’t seem important – any glib contrivance will do, apparently. What matters, all that matters, is that the predetermined conclusion is arrived at and professed. And so, teeth brushing is baldly and repeatedly conflated with “whiteness,” some allegedly pathological state.

Now now I know it's bad, but let's not get down in the mouth about all this.

I sit on the floor and pick my nose
and think of dirty things
Of deviant dwarves who suck their toes
and elves who drub their dings.
I sit on the floor and pick my nose
and dream exotic dreams
Of dragons who dress in rubber clothes
and trolls who do it in teams
I sit on the floor and pick my nose
and wish for a thrill or two
For a goblin who goes in for a few no-noes
Or an orc with a thing about glue.
And all of the while I sit and pick
I think of such jolly things
Of whips and screws and leather slacks
Of frottages and stings.

Again, shamelessness. As if the odds of ever being called out on this flimflam were practically zero. Maybe that tells us something.

When you’re reduced to namedropping Judith Butler - this Judith Butler - to make yourself sound profound, it’s probably time to rethink your life choices.

The beauty part of teeth is that if one is trouble by their problematic straight whiteness it is a matter of no work at all to have them be any color at all from off-white to yellow to jet black, as straight or unstraight as one wants, and with a little selective maintenance one can have a mouth that is a veritable wonderland of dental diversity.
Another problematic problem sorted.

Writing “queer studies” papers about the “uninterrogated Whiteness” of routine dental hygiene ought to feel like being spotted by a former lover while you panhandle for change outside a low-end supermarket.
Posted by: David | May 28, 2019 at 13:24
WTF is the thing about white people not washing their legs? Do the people in that thread genuinely think white people don't wash? Are they deranged or racist or both?
I read the abstract of Meyers' 'paper'. It appears to be written in a language similar to, yet absolutely not, English.
Dates from 2008 too; I wonder if he writes in English these days?

Ya ne znayu, apparently POCs think ytes don't wash their legs which would be racyiss if it weren't for the fact that only wypipo can be rayciss, but the fact that patriarchial oppression forces wymxn to shave their legs which in turn means they must wash them would seem to counter the non-rayciss POC belief, so maybe it is only yte men and yte wxmyn who identify as men who don't wash zer legs.
I am sure there is an academic paper in this.

There's a professor of philosophy at a public university whose blog I comment on. This is his basic, get-out-of-logic-free fall back position. Anti-intellectualism. And when most convenient, Trump-inspired anti-intellectualism.

By "with him" one implies he'd have to be alive at the end? Well, that's a spot of bother when such easy solutions exist but for that. Say, breaking both his arms and feeding him to death on his ripped-out douchebeard.
One could leave him as a barely functional lump of beaten stupid, I suppose.

“straight and white teeth as a metaphor for a straight and White identity”
Irish people are probably the whitest people on earth.
I would not associate them with straight, white teeth.
(Except for the under 30s, most of whom have had extensive teeth straightening and whitening and, as a result, look like they have robbed some Californians of their teeth which don't quite fit.)

No clue, I was skeered off by the concept of infini-fat, though I am not sure how they can be "included" as it would seem their hyper-Brobdingnagian immensity would preclude the presence of anyone else, at least in a confined space like a concert hall.
