Escalator malfunction
I hate escalators. Sometimes I freeze with fear at the top of an escalator and can't step on. I have to find stairs or an elevator. I had this fear even before my dress got caught at the bottom of a very steep, very busy escalator at Vancouver airport. Luckily my husband was right in front of me and managed to yank my dress free so I could get off without injury. After making sure I was okay, he looked at my dress and said how sorry he was that the bottom was ripped to shreds. I told him I didn't care one bit about my dress, I was just so thankful he was there to save ME.

Unregistered guest roams politely
Just pretend it's not there. It's easier that way.

Super Great White Shark, a work in progress.
About as believable as the Iranian stealth fighter, but scrolling down to the cutaway, it appears they are trying to rip off the WWII BMW Flugelrad and similar concepts.
The crazy notions you get from eating bats...

Could "This" (Thunderbirds 1965) have been a warning about the coming of Greta Thunderbird?
They were puppets too...

Happy accident.
Ooops.

"Super Great White Shark, a work in progress."
Superbly designed predators, honed to perfection by millions of years of evolution, perfectly equipped to cruise...
Wait. What's THAT?!?

Morning, all.
Oh!
It’s up again now. And for dog lovers, there is a reversed one.
By the way, Julia, I’m still not sure what you’ve done to offend the spam filter. If anyone else has trouble with comments not appearing, email me and I’ll free them from the filter’s clutches.

A comedy sketch waiting to happen. And apparently, you got off lightly. It seems they will actually swallow people whole.

Good deed
I've helped the odd animal myself. I always imagine when they get back to their mates their version of events is "I was caught by a human. Luckily I managed to get away."

“I was caught by a human. Luckily I managed to get away."
I have seen a few reports of what appeared to be animals seeking help from humans.

Rest assured.
That's what I want from a pair of *squints* jeans.

My company was very proud to announce today that it was still on the GoodThink list, having been named in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index and earning a perfect pat on the head from some NGO for "LGBTQ+ workplace equality".
The self-congratulatory email continued with the following sentence, quoted verbatim:
Bolding mine, but capital letters for "ALL" is theirs! I can't decide if it's simple incompetence and the usual incoherence (which for this company is a good bet) or if the bastards are rubbing our faces in their bigotry and daring us to say something.

Aliens did it.
"For over a decade, he has been a snow artist who walks soccer ball-sized fields and creates striking geometric designs in the untouched powder."
Odd -- from the photo, the design looks a hell of a lot bigger than a soccer ball. Must be a trick of perspective.

Sigh...Here's the thing, and I'm guessing you know this...but we all really need to stop pretending there's no elephant in the room...Your concern here is fundamentally that this sentence is illogical. There is no Venn Diagram which you can draw to describe what the sentence is saying. This is simply where we are and really where we have been for a couple decades now. It's not about reason and logic and all that 18th century (or whatever) Enlightenment crap. It's about emotions and mobs and who can scream the loudest. Robespierre kinda tipped the hand there early on. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. That's simply how it goes. It's a horrible thing to accept. In many ways it is indeed a cop-out. I'm no fan of the helicopter approach to solving such issues but unless a LARGE number of people start getting more vocal, stepping up and demanding some sense of normalcy, that's where we're headed. The only question is, who will be flying in the helicopters and who will be, well...flying.

“We remain deeply committed to ensuring ALL [workers] have equal opportunity and will continue to prioritize advancing women and LGBTQ+ employees.”
Contradictions aside, I wonder if it ever occurs to these people that the supposed beneficiaries, their pet identity groups, the ones being singled out as in particular need of favours and condescension, may find such posturing offensive, or at the very least cringeworthy. It’s patronising and invidious.

So as not to totally abandon logic and reason, why/how would that ever occur to these people? Who, in THEIR real world, would tell them? To what benefit? They get completely juiced by their posturing and such. Both emotionally and status-wise. There's no down-side for them because what downside there is that exists in reality is so far beyond the bubble of their immediate understandings and perceptions such that such a reality is effectively, in-the-moment-wise, irrelevant.

What WTP said. Being coddled is a lovely feeling, even if the logical implications are revolting. I mean, "cake in slavery" is more or less the modern Left's ethos, no?

You might want to include "with the exception of our gracious host, of course," when you're splashing that broad brush around the place. Seems only mannerly.

Our host's coddling, while warm-hearted and full of cheer, is wisely tempered by pickled eggs and abnormally strong ladies in waiting.

Was confused...well still confused if this is addressed to me, but perhaps the slop of language and such you (meaning Mr. Squid) are referring to the 'these people' in my: So as not to totally abandon logic and reason, why/how would that ever occur to these people? If so, the 'these people' to which I refer were the ones in the I wonder if it ever occurs to these people and not the people who are the supposed beneficiaries. Otherwise, not sure who/what you're addressing.

Well, at least those four #resistance gals pass the Bechdel Test. If only on a technicality, since Conway was only the target of that catty little mean girls snipefest as a stand-in for Trump.
On a side note, I try to avoid mocking people for getting dealt bad hands by genetics, but Terri's living in a bit too much of a glass house to be making derogatory remarks about another woman's appearance.
